Knee Problems? Hip Problems? Lower Back Pain? Shin Splints? Ankle Instability? Foot Pain?

If yes, then you require a biomechanical assessment. A full biomechanical assessment allows the podiatrist to assess the manner, functionality and alignment of the lower limb and foot. It is specifically beneficial to those who have pain which has not been diagnosed or pain which has failed to respond to medication. The examination is done with the patient in a weight bearing (standing) and non weight bearing (lying) position. The podiatrist will concentrate on examining the range, direction and quality of motion within the hip, knee, lower limb and foot. This assessment usually identifies the need for correction which is done through the use of orthotics or otherwise known as insoles. The orthotics, which are custom designed to your feet, provide support and work with the lower limb and feet.

  • Full Diabetic Checks inc. Extensive Vascular & Neurological Assessments

Diabetes affects the lower limb and feet in two ways by targeting the arteries and nerves. The excess sugar can affect the volume of blood running through the arteries by reducing the diameter of the blood vessels. Additionally the excess sugar can wrap itself around the free nerve endings which results in pins and needles sensation or stops them from functioning completely. Our diabetic assessment assesses the possible damage done to your arteries and nerves in an easy and painless manner to give you peace of mind and allow you to keep a tight control on your diabetes.
